Blocky Music Workshop Terms of Use#

In short. The Workshop is a free place to share and play maps for the Blocky Music mod. What you make stays yours. Upload only music, covers and charts you have the right to share, and let QwU World host your map and deliver it to players. Rights holders can ask us to remove content, and repeated copyright problems cost you upload access. We explain every decision that affects you, and you can appeal it. A shorter version for younger players is shown in the upload steps and in the game.

1. About these Terms#

1.1 Who we are. The Blocky Music Workshop ("the Workshop") at https://blocky-music.qwu.world is run by QwU World, an independent studio operated by a private individual in Poland (EU): Nikita Orlov,
Postal address for legal notices
Nikita Orlov
ul. Grochowska 289/9
03-842 Warszawa
Poland
. E-mail: dragon4ik.QwU@gmail.com. "We" and "us" mean QwU World.

1.2 What they cover. The Workshop website, its API, the Workshop screens inside the Blocky Music mod (browsing, installing, comments, account and uploads), and everything you upload or write there.

1.3 How they fit with qwu.world. The Workshop uses your QwU World account. The qwu.world Terms (https://qwu.world/terms) and Privacy Policy (https://qwu.world/privacy, section "Blocky Music Workshop") apply to you. These Terms add to them. Where the two conflict on a Workshop matter, these Terms apply.

1.4 Rules that are part of these Terms. Upload Rules, Content Usage and Permissions, Copyright and Illegal Content, Community Rules, Moderation, Sanctions and Appeals and Server Comments.

1.5 Languages. These Terms are published in English and Russian. If the versions differ, the English version applies, unless the law requires the reading that is more favourable to you as a consumer.

2. Words we use#

  • Map (beatmap): one song with its cover, details and one or more charts, published together on the Workshop.
  • Chart: one difficulty of a map.
  • Map file: the `.blockymap` file the Workshop builds for each published version of a map.
  • Hosted audio: the song is included in the map file. Map without audio: the map file only identifies the song, and each player uses their own copy.
  • Library track: a song QwU World has licensed for use in Workshop maps.
  • Your content: everything you upload or write on the Workshop: audio, covers, charts, titles and other details, descriptions, credits, comments and ratings.
  • Server: a Minecraft server running Blocky Music. Server maps are maps installed on a server. **Server comments** are comments stored by a server.
  • Withdrawn map: a map that was deleted, whose downloads were turned off, or whose audio was removed.
  • Staff: curators, moderators and admins.
  • Notice: a message saying that content is illegal or infringes rights.
  • Strike: a record on your account of a removal made because of a copyright notice.
  • Statement of reasons: the message we send you when we restrict you or your content.

3. Accepting these Terms, and changes#

3.1 Before you first comment, rate or report, on the site or in the game, we ask you to accept these Terms and the Community Rules. Before your first upload we ask once more, for the Upload Rules and the promises in section 8. Each time we record which versions you accepted, when, and which confirmations you ticked; you are not asked again unless one of those documents changes, and then we tell you what changed.

3.2 You can browse, preview and download without an account. If you download or install a map, section 10 sets out what you may do with it.

3.3 We may change these Terms, for example when the law or the Workshop changes. We announce significant changes on the site and in the game at least 14 days before they take effect, unless the law or an urgent abuse or safety problem requires a faster change. We then ask you to accept the new version before your next action that needs it. If you do not accept, you can still browse, download and play, hide or delete your maps, and stop using account features.

3.4 A change to the licence in section 9 applies only to content you upload after accepting that change.

4. Who can use the Workshop#

4.1 You must be 16 or older to use the Workshop's account features: uploading, commenting, rating, favourites and reports. The Workshop carries music and comments from strangers, and Poland sets the age of digital consent at 16, so the Workshop uses one age for everything it does. A qwu.world account still starts at 13, and a younger player can sign in, browse, download and play Workshop maps; they just cannot upload, comment or rate here.

4.2 We learn your age from the date of birth your qwu.world account gives when it is created; an account made before 18 September 2026, or through a sign-in provider, is asked in the upload steps instead. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree before you publish, and the upload steps ask you to confirm it: "I am 16 or older, and if I am under 18 a parent or guardian agrees to what I publish here." In Poland and other countries a minor needs that consent for parts of these Terms, such as the licence in section 9. A parent or guardian can write to dragon4ik.QwU@gmail.com about anything their child published here, including having it removed.

4.3 One person, one account. Do not share your account, and do not use other accounts to get around limits, ratings, reviews or sanctions.

5. Your account and linked Minecraft accounts#

5.1 The Workshop uses the same account and the same sign-in as qwu.world. Signing out of one signs you out of both. A ban or deletion on qwu.world also applies here.

5.2 You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in. Sign in to the mod only on computers you trust, and remove devices you no longer use (Account, Devices).

5.3 Link only Minecraft accounts that are yours. Links are private by default. If you choose to show a linked Minecraft account on your profile, its UUID is also written into the map files you publish from then on, and copies that were already downloaded cannot be recalled.

5.4 Sanctions apply to the person. Switching accounts or Minecraft accounts does not lift them.

6. The service#

6.1 The Workshop is free. It shows no ads and has no paid features, and QwU World does not sell user uploads.

6.2 What you need. For the website, a current web browser. For the Workshop in the game, Minecraft: Java Edition with a supported version of the Blocky Music mod, and your permission in the mod for it to connect to the Workshop.

6.3 Availability. We work to keep the Workshop running and safe, but it can be interrupted for maintenance, updates or problems outside our control, and we may change, add or remove features. If we decide to close the Workshop, we will announce it at least 30 days in advance where we can, so you can download your maps.

6.4 Risks. Files from the internet can carry risks. We check every map file (format, size, audio, images and chart limits) before publishing it, and the mod checks it again before installing, but no check is perfect. Install maps only through the Workshop or the mod, and keep your game up to date. Maps and comments come from other people and may be wrong or upsetting; please report problems.

7. Your content stays yours#

You keep all the rights you have in your content. We do not claim ownership of it. The licences in sections 9 and 10 are the only rights the Workshop receives.

8. Your promises when you upload#

Each time you upload a map or a new version, and each time you replace its audio or cover, you promise that:

(a) for hosted audio, you own or have permission for both the song itself (music and lyrics) and the recording, including any samples, or you use a Library track or a licence that allows this use (Content Usage);

(b) you own or have permission for the cover;

(c) the charts are your own work or are published with their authors' permission, and everyone who made them is credited;

(d) you are able to grant the licences in sections 9 and 10 for all of it;

(e) the title, artist, credits and your answers in the upload steps are true;

(f) nothing in the map violates anyone's privacy, image or voice rights (including AI imitations of a real person) or the law;

(g) the explicit, flashing effects, AI and spoiler marks are correct; and

(h) the upload contains no malware, exploits or other files meant to harm players, servers or the Workshop.

If a promise stops being true, for example because a permission is withdrawn, remove the affected part or tell us.

9. The licence you give QwU World#

9.1 You give QwU World a worldwide, non-exclusive, free licence to use your content as needed to run, secure and present the Workshop, namely to:

(a) host, store, cache and back it up;

(b) check it, rebuild the map file, rename files and rewrite technical details the Workshop controls (such as ids and version data);

(c) convert and re-encode audio and images and make the technical copies the game needs, such as versions at other playback speeds;

(d) create short audio previews, thumbnails, header and sharing images, difficulty ratings and statistics;

(e) make it available for download and for installation in the game, including through the API;

(f) show the map's details, cover, charts, previews and comments on the Workshop website, in the game and in the API, and when we present the Workshop, for example in featured lists, news and social media posts about the Workshop; and

(g) let players and servers use it as described in section 10.

9.2 Service providers that help us run the Workshop (hosting, storage, delivery and e-mail) may do these things for us. We may transfer this licence only together with the Workshop itself, for example if QwU World becomes a company.

9.3 How long. The licence lasts while your content is published and for 30 days after you or we remove it (for backups and for restoring content after an appeal). It continues without a time limit only for (i) copies that players and servers installed before the removal, within the limits of section 10.3, and (ii) copies kept in legal and moderation records, for the periods stated in Copyright and Illegal Content and Moderation.

9.4 This licence does not allow us to sell your content or use it in products other than the Workshop and Blocky Music.

10. What players and servers may do with maps#

10.1 While a map is available, anyone who downloads it may, for personal and non-commercial use: install it, play it in Minecraft single-player and on servers, and use the mod's sharing features. A server operator may install it on their server, and the mod may send it to players connected to that server so they can play it together.

10.2 Without the uploader's permission you may not upload a map or its files anywhere other than the Workshop, sell them or charge for them, or take the audio or cover out to use outside Blocky Music.

10.3 When a map is withdrawn, copies already installed may still be used for personal play on the player's own computer. They may no longer be installed on servers, sent to other players, uploaded or published anywhere. The mod does this automatically when it can check the Workshop, and server operators must follow it too (section 16).

10.4 Nobody gets more rights through the Workshop than the uploader had to give. A Library track or an open licence can add conditions, such as attribution, which appear in the map's credits.

10.5 An uploader may give extra permissions for their own charts, for example an open licence, by saying so in the credits.

11. Streams and videos#

The Workshop does not give anyone the right to use music in streams, videos or other broadcasts. Whether you may do that depends on the rights holders and on the platform you use.

12. Quotation, parody and similar uses#

Where EU law allows it, you may use works for quotation, criticism, review, caricature, parody or pastiche. If you believe a removal ignored such a use, you can appeal it or, for a copyright notice, send a counter-notice.

13. How we moderate#

13.1 We do not review every upload or comment before it appears. We act on reports, notices and what staff notice, and we use the tools listed below. Moderation does not mean we approve of content or have checked that it is lawful.

13.2 With a stated reason, we may: change a map's details or content marks; ask for fixes; reject a first upload or approve it without its audio; remove a map from featured; remove its audio or cover; turn off its downloads; hide or delete maps, descriptions and comments; lock comments; and restrict accounts. The details are in Moderation, Sanctions and Appeals.

13.3 Tools we use:

  • automated checks of every map file (format, size, audio and image decoding, chart limits);
  • exact matching of uploaded audio against files removed earlier;
  • matching of artist names against the list of artists who do not allow their music on the Workshop;
  • a word filter that blocks or replaces some words in comments and flags others for staff;
  • automatic hiding of a comment reported by 3 established accounts within 24 hours, until staff review it;
  • review of a new uploader's first maps before they appear publicly;
  • no links in comments from accounts younger than 24 hours;
  • upload quotas and rate limits;
  • explicit maps hidden in listings unless a player chooses to see them;
  • automatic upload limits at 2 and 3 active strikes, each reviewed by an admin within 72 hours;
  • decisions by people: curators, moderators and admins.

Automated tools never sanction an account on their own, except the strike limits above. Automatic hiding and refused uploads come with a statement of reasons and can be appealed.

13.4 When we restrict you or your content, we send a statement of reasons: what we did, why, and how to appeal. Appeals are free and are decided by a staff member who was not involved, where one is available.

14. Copyright notices, takedowns and strikes#

Rights holders, and anyone who believes content is illegal, can use the notice form at /legal/notice. Copyright and Illegal Content explains notices, counter-notices and strikes. In short: a removal made because of a copyright notice is a strike, and removals from notices received before we tell you about a strike count as one. With 2 active strikes you cannot upload for 30 days; with 3 you can no longer upload. Strikes expire 12 months after the removal.

15. Removing your maps and deleting your account#

15.1 You can hide or delete your maps at any time. Deleting stops new downloads. Copies already installed stay on players' computers under section 10.3, and records we must keep are kept for the stated periods.

15.2 You can delete your QwU World account on qwu.world. We then delete your Workshop personal data: linked Minecraft accounts, preferences, favourites, notifications and individual ratings (average ratings stay). Maps and comments you did not delete remain public under "Deleted user", and the current version of each such map is rebuilt without your name and Minecraft UUID. Legal and moderation records are kept for the stated periods. The Privacy Policy has the details.

16. Minecraft servers and their operators#

16.1 If you run a server that installs Workshop maps or stores server comments, you are responsible for what your server stores and shares with players.

16.2 Stop sharing maps the Workshop marks as withdrawn. Keep the mod's Workshop checks on, or check your server maps regularly.

16.3 Server comments are stored only on your server. QwU World does not host or moderate them. See Server Comments.

17. What you must not do#

  • upload or share content you do not have the right to share, or any illegal content;
  • break the Upload Rules or the Community Rules;
  • get around sanctions, limits, blocklists or reviews, including with other accounts;
  • attack, overload or probe the Workshop, its API or other users, or use the Workshop to spread malware;
  • collect other users' personal data, or copy the catalogue in bulk to host it elsewhere;
  • use automated tools other than through the public API within its rate limits;
  • pretend to be QwU World, staff, an artist or another user.

18. Responsibility#

18.1 The Workshop is free and provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, that every map will work, or that content from other users is lawful or accurate.

18.2 To the extent the law allows, QwU World is not liable for content posted by other people or for loss caused by using maps or the Workshop. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including for harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence and for harm to life or health, and nothing in these Terms affects your mandatory rights as a consumer.

18.3 If you break your promises in section 8 or these Terms and someone makes a claim against QwU World because of it, you are responsible for the damage your breach actually caused, as provided by law.

19. Ending use#

19.1 You can stop using the Workshop at any time.

19.2 We may restrict or end your access to Workshop features under Moderation, Sanctions and Appeals, with a statement of reasons and a way to appeal.

19.3 Sections 7, 9.3, 10.3, 15, 18 and 21 continue to apply after your use ends.

20. Complaints about the service#

If the Workshop does not work as these Terms describe, write to dragon4ik.QwU@gmail.com with your username, what happened and what you expect. We reply within 14 days. Moderation decisions are appealed as described in Moderation; copyright matters follow Copyright and Illegal Content.

21. Law and courts#

21.1 Polish law governs these Terms. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, where the law gives you that protection.

21.2 If you are a consumer living in the EU, you can bring a dispute before the courts of the country where you live or before the Polish courts, and we can bring a dispute against you only before the courts of the country where you live. In all other cases, disputes are decided by the competent courts in Poland.

21.3 If you believe we are breaking the EU Digital Services Act, you can also complain to the Digital Services Coordinator of the EU country where you live.

22. Contacts#

  • Questions, complaints and the point of contact for users under the Digital Services Act: dragon4ik.QwU@gmail.com, in English or Russian. A person reads and answers.
  • Copyright and illegal content notices: the form at /legal/notice, or dragon4ik.QwU@gmail.com.
  • Appeals: Account, Standing. If you cannot sign in: dragon4ik.QwU@gmail.com.
  • Point of contact for EU and national authorities, including removal orders for terrorist content: dragon4ik.QwU@gmail.com, in English or Polish.
  • Post: the address in section 1.1.

When dedicated addresses exist, we will publish them here.

23. Other notices#

  • Blocky Music and the Workshop are not an official Minecraft product and are not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Your use of Minecraft is subject to its own terms.
  • The website uses the Nunito and Inter fonts (SIL Open Font License 1.1) and Lucide icons (ISC License). The mod uses Nunito and Lucide under the same licences.

24. Changes#

  • Version 3 (18 September 2026). The Workshop is now a 16+ service. Section 4.1 raises the age for uploading, commenting and rating from 13 to 16; a qwu.world account still starts at 13, so younger players can keep browsing, downloading and playing. Anyone under 18 still needs a parent's or guardian's agreement before they publish.
  • Version 2 (18 September 2026). Section 3.1 now describes the two moments the rules are accepted (before your first comment, rating or report, and again before your first upload) and says that we record which confirmations you ticked. Section 4.2 now asks anyone under 18 to have a parent's or guardian's agreement before uploading, and gives guardians an address to write to. Nothing else changed.
  • Version 1 (17 September 2026). First version.
